Today's poll: Should Massachusetts lower the age requirement for learner's permits to 15 1/2?
The Forecast
It's been breezy and almost a little brisk this morning under cloudy skies. The National Weather Service calls for those clouds to stick around for most of the day, with highs in the mid-60s.
There's no precipitation in the forecast, though, and ABC40 / FOX 6 meteorologist Dan Brown says we'll have pleasant weather through Friday. "This ocean storm will push away on Thursday giving way to more sunshine and warmer temperatures. Highs both Thursday and Friday will reach into the middle and upper 70s," he writes.
What does the weekend have in store? Brown's predicting "dry, nice, spring weather" through most of Saturday and Sunday; the National Weather Service predicts a 40% chance of showers on Saturday and a 30% chance on Sunday.
Today's Poll
A new bill under consideration in Massachusetts would lower the age threshold for a learner's permit from 16 to 151/2.
Those in favor of the bill argue that lowering the age would give teens an extra six months of supervised experience behind the wheel before becoming eligible for a junior operator's license. The current age requirement for that license is 161/2.
What do you think -- should the age requirement for a learner's permit be lowered to 151/2? Vote in our poll, and check back tomorrow for the results.
Tuesday's results: Yesterday, we asked, "Will Gov. Deval Patrick's proposal to create new gun-related crimes help curb the tide of youth violence?" 8 people voted. 75% said, "no," and 25% said "yes."
