LONGMEADOW - Town police are seeking to identify a suspect in a shoplifting at CVS on Monday who may also be involved in the theft of a credit card from the Springfield Jewish Community Center, police said.

The suspect was recorded by security video at the CVS on Longmeadow Street moments before he was seen slipping out the rear door with a basket of merchandise, police said.

An investigation by police revealed he was the same man who attempted to steal a 4-pack of Red Bull energy drink, valued at $24, from the CVS on Bliss Road earlier. The suspect dropped all the merchandise and fled when confronted by a store employee, police said.

Police were able to link the suspect with the reported theft of a stolen credit card from the Springfield Jewish Community Center on Dickinson Street in Springfield.
Prior to the attempted shoplifting at the Bliss Road store, he attempted to make a purchase with the stolen credit card but it was rejected.

Police described him as a white, with a dark hooded sweatshirt and a light brown t-shirt and sweat pants. No estimate for height or weight was available.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Longmeadow Police detective bureau at (414) 565-4195.
