Police were able to review surveillance footage at the drug store to see who passed the fake bills.
SPRINGFIELD - Police are looking for a man suspected of using $300 in counterfeit bills to purchase a pre-paid credit card on Saturday from the CVS pharmacy at 600 State St., said Springfield police Sgt. John Delaney.
Police were notified by the store's management on Monday about the discovery of counterfeit money, he said.
Detectives Sgt. Ken Murray and Gifford Jenkins were able to determine by viewing security tapes the bills were brought into the store and used by a customer who purchased a Green Dot Moneypak card at 9:17 p.m.
Police provided a photo of the suspect, who Delaney said is wanted for uttering, or the passing of fraudulent bills.
People with information are asked to call the detective bureau at (413) 787-6355.
