CHICOPEE - Police are probing an early morning stabbing on Elcon Drive that sent a 31-year-old Springfield man to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with serious injuries.
“It appears that he is going to survive,” Capt. Thomas Charette said, adding the victim has undergone emergency surgery. He was stabbed multiple times in the side and back, he said.
The incident was reported about 2:15 a.m. It started during a confrontation at a bar, continued at a gasoline station and ended with the stabbing on Elcon Drive.
The male suspect is believed to have been accompanied by a second male, Charette said. Additional information was not immediately available.
