Police said the Natick resident died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the park's pond.
NORTHAMPTON - A 47-year-old city native died in the pond at Look Park Tuesday night from what police described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Capt. Scott A. Savino said police identified the victim, who called police about 10 a.m. and threatened to drown himself in the pond, as Paul Wyman of Natick.
A dispatcher tried unsuccessfully to keep Wyman on the line, Savino said.
Savino said that police found Wyman’s vehicle in a northern area of the park and his cell phone and other belongings on a bench closer to the pond.
State police divers found Wyman’s body in the pond, Savino said.
