ESSEX, Vermont - K-9 teams were brought into the Vermont town of Essex on Monday as police worked for the fifth day to find clues in the disappearance of Bill and Lorraine Currier.

The Curriers were last seen on Wednesday June 8, when they worked their normal shifts at their respective jobs. William, 49, is an animal care technician at the University of Vermont in Burlington while his wife, 55, works for Fletcher Allen Health Care, the university's hospital and health care center, according to the Associated Press.

A search of their home on Thursday revealed a broken window and other evidence which police only characterized as "suspicious," according to a Burlington Free Press report.

On Friday, the couple's green Saturn sedan was found in Essex Junction, in a parking lot between two apartment buildings at 241 Pearl St. Police reportedly questioned several people who lived in the area but no arrests were made.

On Sunday, family members made a public plea for anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it might seem, to come forward.

"They're a personable couple, friendly, seemed to stay pretty close to home, take good care of the property, chat-over-the-fence type of people," said 48-year-old neighbor Steve Fuchs in an interview with the Associated Press. "It's a mystery, it really is. Nobody knows what to make of it. These guys have never disappeared. In terms of their presence, they're pretty steady. Like clockwork."

On Monday, the Burlington newspaper also reported that police were reviewing surveillance tapes from the area around their home and where the vehicle was found. There has been no public statement as to what, if anything, was found on the tapes.

William is described by police as a white man, 6-feet tall, weighing 220 pounds. Lorraine is described as a white woman, 5-feet-3 inches tall, and weighing approximately 160 pounds with brown hair.

Anyone who may have seen the green Saturn or who has information on the Currier's whereabouts is asked to call the Essex Police Department at 802-878-8331.
