Police acted on complaints from people in the community about under-age drinking at the clubs.
HOLYOKE – Police shut down two social clubs after investigating complaints of underage drinking, acting Police Chief Federick J. Seklecki said Monday.
The Los Jibarito’s Social Club, 635-637 South Summer St., and the Masters Social Club, 65 Commercial St., were ordered closed Friday because they were operating as illegal bars, he said.
“Both of these locations were deemed to be in violation and were ordered closed,” Seklecki said in a press release.
Victor Manuel Cruz, 36, of 43 Mosher St., was arrested at Los Jibarito’s Social Club and charged with cocaine trafficking and a drug violation near a school or public park, he said. Arraignment information about Cruz was unavailable.
Police were acting on complaints about the clubs from city officials and people in the community, Seklecki said.
