Police arrested Rocky Kelly at Cambria and Pennsylvania, and then 45 minutes later arrested Lucien Arrington and Scott Peabody on South Branch Parkway.
SPRINGFIELD - Springfield police arrested three men in two suspected looting incidents roughly an hour apart Tuesday afternoon in the same tornado-ravaged section of East Forest Park.
Rocky Kelly, 56, of 73 Navajo Road, Springfield, was charged with larceny of more than $250 after police on patrol spotted him at Cambria Street and Pennsylvania Avenue just after noon stealing metal items including a electric meter box, wiring and piping cables from damaged homes, police said.
Just after 1 p.m. police arrested Lucien Arrington, 20, of 593 South Branch Parkway, and Scott Peabody, 24, of 73 North Boulevard, West Springfield, after police said they were seen stealing electrical power lines, cable television and telephone lines and copper wiring from a home near 261 South Branch Parkway.
The two were charged with larceny over $250. Police also added a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute after finding a bag of marijuana in Arrington’s Jeep.
Arrington was also charged with driving without a license.
Arrington and Peabody were spotted by Springfield police Sgt. John Delaney who was giving City Council President Jose Tosada a tour of the area, police said.
All three are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Springfield District Court.
