07.14.2011 | AGAWAM - A briefcase left in the Rocky's Ace Hardware plaza Thursday afternoon prompted a response from the Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad.As of about 2:30 p.m. the entire plaza was closed off. Customers at The Friendly's Restaurant were not evacuated, but police and fire officials were not allowing cars or pedestrians to enter the parking lot.
Agawam police and members of the Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad remain on scene.
A single gray briefcase sat in an unoccupied parking space in the middle of the parking lot as emergency crews were staging.
