Springfield resident suffers second degree burns.
SPRINGFIELD - A city resident was transported to Mercy Hospital with second degree burns Sunday afternoon, said Dennis Leger, aide to Commissioner Joseph Conant.
Leger said the man, who lives at 900 Beacon Circle, put some grease to heat in a pan with a lid on it. When he removed the lid the pan caught on fire.
Firefighters responded to the apartment around 11:30 a.m. The unidentified man suffered burns on both his arms as well as his left leg and foot.
The kitchen suffered minor damage.
