Palmer Police Chief Robert Frydryk said the occupants of the other car reported that Felice cut in front of them on the turnpike, and started slamming on the brakes.

PALMER - Police arrested a 38-year-old Park Street man after an alleged "road rage" incident in which he chased another driver from the Massachusetts Turnpike into town, all while yelling and waving a machete out the car window.

Craig S. Felice, of 1030 Park St., was charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (machete and car) and disorderly conduct.

He was to be arraigned Thursday in Palmer District Court; arraignment information was not immediately available.

Police Chief Robert P. Frydryk said police received a 911 call Wednesday afternoon, just before 3 p.m., from a 16-year-old male who was the passenger in his 22-year-old brother's car.

The boy reported to police that they were being chased by an individual in a Jeep Cherokee on the turnpike, so they exited in Palmer, where the person continued to follow them on Lawrence and Shearer streets.

Frydryk said the driver pulled into Wing Memorial Hospital's parking lot, so he could let his brother go into the hospital to escape.

Officer John Melnick happened to be at the hospital, where he met the brothers and got the description of the other car. Felice was apprehended by police on North Main Street, by the old Kentucky Fried Chicken shortly after.

Frydryk said the brothers reported that Felice cut in front of them on the turnpike, and started slamming on the brakes. Felice told police that the brothers cut him off, something the brothers denied.

Frydryk said Felice told police he had the machete in the car because he is a logger.
